E are all agreed that there are two distinct types of class conduction. First.
there is the cut-and-dried method of "read the question, answer it in the
words of the book, and woe-be-untti-you if you digress from the subject." Hn
the other hand, there is the ideal classroom discussion in which every viewpoint
is given polite consideration, all sides and angles of the subjects are discussed.
vast tields are covered in the discussions, and the general and practical knowl-
edge of the student is broadened.
The instructor determines which way his class is conducted. The students
of our high school consider themselves very fortunate, and they greatly appreciate
the fact that our faculty give lla the type :it class we like-the open-minded, free
lioth the superintendent and principal, Mr, White and Mr. Scales have been
very successful in their administration of the scliool. Their sincere friendliness
and genuine interest in the pupils have formed an admirable feeling of co-ordina-
tion between the pupils and the faculty.
Miss XYinzeler's composure and competence enables her to control the excit-
ed Freshies in their tirst high school English. Nye find her personal llCZ1lllCss re-
flected in her very orderly library.
Students of Latin. l'ublic Speaking and Sophomore English tind themselves
envying Miss Dean's sweet personality, understanding and sympathetic nature.
and her contagious smile. XYe are very proud of her successful debate teams.
Mr. Haugher's supreme tolerance enables him to direct high school plays
with a phenomenal success. The upperclassmen tind English made enduralile by
his dry wit and inoffensive teasing.
Upon completion two years of required history, the students Iind themselves!
missing Mr. XYagner's humorous sarcasm and delightful anecdotes. :Xs advisor of
lli-Y he is very popular with his boys.
M1'. Geer's splendid personality enables him to win the conlidence and respect
of his algebra, and economic students. The boys affectionately nicknamed their
basketball coach 'tPop" Geer.
Une year of coaching athletics and teaching geometry llits impressed liryfm
lligh with Mr. Ugden's sincere interest in not only the subjects but the pupils
themselves. His football team was league champion this season.
Science, physics and chemistry are taught by Mr. llobrock. His superb
sense of humor, slow smile and his patience make his classes popular with the
students. He also conducts the liryan High llrchestra and is faculty advisor for
the year's Annual Staff.
Mr. Everett teaches mechanics and agriculture. llis own thoroughness and
true interest in these subjects arouses enthusiasm in his pupils and makes him one
of our best instructors.
Mr. and Mrs. Capen are indispensible to liryan lligh's musical department.
ln just a few years their indefatigable persistence has developed for the school
the best of musical organizations.
Miss Lehman's success as a liome economics teacher was about twice her
small size. Upon her resignation, liry an secured Miss llowland who has already
won the hearts of her students.
The Commercial courses are made enjoyable by Miss lioeller's friendly attie
tude and her jovial air. Her good natured gaiety is conclusive to cooperation with
Girl's physical education and two years of lirench are taught by Mrs. l'arker,
The i1'resistible charm of her personality and lier ready smile captivate the good
will of her pupils.
Mrs. Newcomer is the school secretary and also supervises a few study halls.
She is a very pleasant cheerful person with a smile for everyone.
