HERRON LEADS FFA Participation on the local, state, district and national level made the 1979 80 school year very exciting for the Brush FFA chapter. The year started with a trip to the Colorado State Judging Contest held at CSU. Brush sent nine repre- sentatives in five categories including livestock, horses, dairy, ag mechanics and creed speaking. Curt Weitzel, Dave Krueger, Irvin Kalous and Kenny Herron attended the FFA National Convention held in Kansas City November 2-9. February 16-23 was a very active week for the chap- ter being as it was National FFA week. During the week the chapter held its annual slave sale and oyster fry. On April 25th, the chapter held its parent member banquet. Many awards were given for excellence in FFA and vocational agriculture. Irvin Kalous, Curt Weitzel, Kenny Herron, Jean Braun, Dave Krueger, Mitch Bostrom and Dean Nichols represented Brush at the state tournament held at Western State College in Gunnison. 27
