A 2-7 season that contributed to a 57-43 record in this decade saw the Diggers go to state tournaments four times, bringing home a second place in 1977. The team did not have a winning season in terms of win-loss, but they did give much valuable playing time to younger players. The 1980 squad will see 20 returning lettermen, all of who were starters. A major reason for such a large number of returing starters is the fact that there was a large number of injuries. Brush did have a 50-22 win over Estes Park, and out-gained their opponents in total yardage 2487 to 2402. Six players named to the All- Conference teams were: RB Mitch Bostrom, K Peter Rasmussen, DT Jim Evans, DE Rick Salinas, and DB Mike Gill. Hon. Men. All-Conference selections were OG and LB, Mark Miller and OT Jim Evans.
