Class History The Class of '53 entered B. H. S. bewildered and frightened but uttered a sigh of relief when they found they had escaped initiation. With Mrs. Wood and Mr. Johnson as class sponsors they elected class officers soon after the beginning of school. They were: Myrna Baird and Duane Teter, Presidents; Lyle Marietta and Verl Owens, Vice Presidents; Ardelle Lesser and Elaine Seeley, Secretaries; Jerry Hartwig and Eunice Noff- singer, Treasurers; Bob Clift and Emma Montoya, Student Council Representatives. Sponsoring a number of dances, building and bonfire or the Snake Dance, and entering a prize- winning float in the homecoming parade were some of the highlights oi me first year. The next year a determined and eager group of sophomores entered B. H. S. They elected Don Seder and Bob Clift, Presidents; Joy Pollock and Louise Meininger, Vice Presidents; Buddy Pote and Janelle Hanson, Secretaries; Jimmie Lee and Verl Owens Treasurers; Jerry Hartwig and Lloyd Spafford, Student Council Representatives. The class sponsors. Miss Burkett and Mr. Lindberg, led mem through another successful year, helping out with dances, sophomore hayride, Commencement and Baccalaureate decorations. Ready to go to work and with plenty of work to do, the Juniors of '53 started the year by electing Mary Lou Friehauf, President; Joy Pollock, Vice President; Shirley Patton, Treasurer and Betty Hall, Secretary. Mr. Burroughs and Miss Young put them to work selling concessions at football games, entering anotner prize-winning float, and having a beautiful prom and banquet. For their last year they elected Charles DeLong, President; Eddie Hanson, Vice President; Verl Owens. Secretary; Danny Scott, Treasurer. Mrs. Wood and Mr. Lally were the sponsors and really helped out with guidance for a good graduation. Also their last year they had another prize-winning float.
