Sophomore Class History The Class of '49 entered the portals of B.H.S. to be welcomed by the usual initiation. The following people were elected as our Freshman class officers: Pres- ident, Harold Stitt; Vice-President, Virginia Lewis; Secretary, Joyce Christensen; Treasurer, Jim Lorensen; and Student Representative, Jim Allingham. The offi- cers proved to be capable and with the cooperation of the class, and under the guidance of Miss Johnson and Mr. Mercer, our sponsors, our Freshman year was a successful one. One of the achievements of the year for the class was the presentation of the play, “Junior Buys a Car,” which placed third in the interclass play contest. We began our Sophomore year by electing these officers: Paul McDill, President; Jim Lorensen, Vice-President; Neil McLagan, Secretary; Bud Luethi, Treasurer; and Cecil Lusby, Student Representative. The class sponsored the Sophomore hayride in the traditional manner as their first activity of the year. The pleasure of winning second place in the Homecoming Parade was one of the high-lights of the year as was the honor of decorating for Baccalaureate in the spring. To top off the year, the class, encouraged by our sponsors, Mr. Schweers and Mr. Lindbergh, presented the play, “Angela’s Surprise. FIRST ROW: Wanda Thomson, Emerson Talbott, Nadyne See- ley, Harold Stitt, Mary Smythe. SECOND ROW: Joy Weller, Syl- via Wecker, Mary Jane Weber, Darwin Tomky, Muriel Thorns- by. THIRD ROW: Junior Green, June Walker.
