Senior Class History ONE very bright day in September of the year 1943, the city of Brush was arroused by the sound of loud groans. As they opened their doors to investigate, they were greeted with lipstick smeared faces, high-topped boots, and shorts of every color. Yes, it was our initiation day, the highlight of our Freshman year. As leaders of the lowly Frosh we chose: Albert McNamee, president; Estelle Lebsock, vice-president; Lynn Hutcheson, secretary; Bill Washburn, treasurer; and Gene Richard, stu- dent representative. We surpassed two of the upper classes by winning second prize on our inter-class play, “Marriage Wows.” Under the leader- ship of our sponsors, Mr. Clark and Miss Johnson, we made it through our first year in B. H. S. In 1944 the class of ’47 came trooping back to the old corral to start a very successful Sophomore year by choosing these officers: Joe Colwell, president; Florence Paynter, vice-president; Dorothe Peterson, secretary; Gene Richard, treasurer; and Clarice Wilson, student representative. Highlights of our Sophomore year were the traditional hayride and decor- ating for baccalaureate. We again took second in the inter-class plays. Mr. Seguine and Miss Walters were our guides for this year. Our Junior year was full of activity with the following officers: Carl Downing, president; Harold Norwood, vice-president; Ardenia Foos, secretary; Joe Colwell, treasurer; and Florence Paynter, student represent- ative; Mrs. Bristol and Mr. Chesney riding herd. By selling coffee and hot dogs at football games we started down the financial trail which lead to the success of the prom and banquet. Along the way we presented the Junior Class Play, “One Mad Night,” which was received with much enthusiasm. On the night of May 20, we played hosts to the Seniors at the annual Ban- quet, held at the Masonic Temple. The evening was climaxed when the wheel of many colors cast itis spell over guests and hosts, as they danced in “The Garden of Tomorrow.” The fall of ’47 found us as top hands. With the Freshman following humbly at our heels we started our senior year with initiation. This vear we chose Albert McNamee, president; Bruce Hanson, vice-president; Flor- ence Paynter, secretary; Ardenia Foos, treasurer; and Stan Gray, student representative. Mrs. Bristol and Mr. Mercer were chosen as our leaders. In keeping with the theme of the Sagebrush, we chose “Dude Ranch” as our Senior Class Play. We are proud to have reached the end of the trail in B. H. S. as the Senior Class of 1947. MR. FRANKLIN MERCER Sponsor MRS. CAROLYN BRISTOL Sponsor
