feA!PP86 Bruno School opened September 4 1950 Mr Harry Marrow was wrth us agam as our prmclpal There were three new teachers to start th1s year Mrs Geraldme Barron was our home economics teacher Mr Danmel opened a new f1e1d of study rn sclence Mr Gates who IS agriculture teacher and help mg the boys wlth thezr agrxcultural problems The grade school teachers are Mrs Smith first grade Mrs Janes second and thzrd Mrs Hall thxrd and forth Mr Wxlkerson frfth and slxth We rmmedxately started practlcmg basketball and school was off to good start October 7 8 we held our annual fazr m the gym The veterans had an exceptronally good exh1b1t of farm products The sc1ence department of high school had an mterestxng exh1b1t as well as the art class that had a good many water color plctures on dxsplay both of these bemg new exhxbzts at the Bruno Farr Altogether rt was the best fazr that Bruno has had m recent years A Halloween Carnwal sponsored by the P T A was held October 31 nn the gym A queen s contest was held wzth JoElla Cunnmgham and Carolyn Pannell rergned as the queens of the Carmval Many contests were enjoyed by all and Patsy Doll almost d1ed of heart farlure when she won a cake The fun house the country store the fxshmg pond and the free shot contest were among some of the outstandmg attractlons The revenues were dwrded among the teachers for the benefxt of the school Thanks to the P T A November Z4 we turned out for Thanksgwmg, a short vacatxon enjoyed by all Maybe many more people were stuffed than turkeys The next break came when we turned out a week for Chrzstrnas Decem ber ZZ to wa1t for Santa He arrzved m tune for everyone to start back to school January l When school agaln took up classes two of our teachers were not wzth us Mr Travns Yarbrough took Mr S W Wzlkerson s place Mlss Elsoe McCracken took the home economxcs after the departure of Mrs Barron Amxd basketball tournaments and the general excxtement of school we started the new year off w1th a bang Many well meant resolutlons whlch were made were broken after the f1rst week The next great excztement to help cheer us up was the preparatwn and holdmg of the 28th annual Father and Son Banquet on March 16 The commlttees that made tlns banquet possible were headed by Melba Jean Young charrman of kxtchen serv1ce Geraldme Doggett chalrman of dxnmg service Jxrnmy Ray Adams chalrman of program Leonard Young, chairman of fmance, Floyd Johnson, chazrman of xnvxtatlon Bobby Lee Methvm, chaxrman of decoratxon, and Max Manning chairman of seatmg Mr S D Mitchell the guest speaker wxth hrs philosophy, wit and humor saw that there was no cat nappmg School dxsmxssed May the 12th 1951 wzth twelve Senxors graduatmg I g o a ' . . . . . .
