They are classed in 18-AA District, along with McAllen, Edinburg,and Harlingen. The Eagles were beaten out for the cham- pionship in the last game with Edinburg, although they led the League for the first half of the season, they finished in second place. The co-captains elected for 1952 were the only two seniors we will be losing this year: Joe Barrera, 4 yr. letterman and captain last year, and Joe Lopez, 3 yr. letterman. They are the l8-AA champions, won lst in the Magic Valley Relay and the Donna Relays, and attended the Border Olympics at Laredo. The team placed second in the All-Valley Track Meet and in the Tri-City Track Meet. They made first in Regional, third in the San Antonio invitation, and they entered the State contest. OFTBALL Girls playing a game of softball In the spring the athletically inclined girls' fancy turns to baseball. This year, with Haralson and Wallenburg as coaches, the team finished a successful season of play and is looking forward to even a better one next year.
