U xX ., X-.. , l i A PROPHECY OF THE DISTRICT MEET On comparing the results of the track and field meet of Cameron County with those of Hidalgo County, it is evident that Cameron will hold the honor of several years standing by again capturing the district meet. Brownsville has made a habit of taking first place in these meets, scoring more points than all the other schools combined, and from present indications, this year will be a repetition of the previous years. The team this year is going in as a unit, to tight not for individual honors, but for the glory of the Brown and Gold. And with this point of view in mind, they will not only make the name of the B. H. S. glorious, but immortal. In men like Smith, Bennett, Graham, Celaya, R. Richards, Valent, and Sehmelling, Coach Smith has a team that is sure to corner the meet, and take first place in all events in which they enter, while our less experienced men can be counted on to capture most of the second and third places. The relay team composed of Smith, Bennett, Schmelling and Graham is sure to duplicate the performance of last year 's team and score another overwhelming victory. Smith is sure to capture a first in the century, the low hurdles, and the broad jump. He will have difficulty in the high jump as Bennett alternates with him in taking the honors in this particular event. i'Any Angle Sami' is sure of his quarter mile dash, of the pole vault, and has the possibility of getting the high jump if he wins the toss from Smith. Celaya has a cinch with the discus and if he forgets about his broken leg, he will place in the century and the high hurdles. Graham, although not a first place man, takes so many seconds that he adds a considerable number of points to the final count. 'tLittle Kockien Richards is sure of five points in the 220 yard dash, and has a good chance to place in the 100 yard dash. Valent, who has shown first class form in the hurdles, will surely place in his respective events. Schmelling has run the halt' mile in record time, and we expect him to lead all competitors in this race. be ,lf ,Tv j , ,L ffafffyj ESHS 9 109
