L. X' . 1 CHARLES CE LAYA, Cczptam Fulllmck Big Mike was the best punter and safety . and the most dangerous triple threat man in Texas High School football, He scored the touch- down that tied Rice, and almost un' aided turned back that vaunted Corpus Christi offense and had the ball in midfield when he broke his leg. We do wish Mike had lasted out that game! FRANKLIN GRAHAM Q uurfvrbllck Our little quarterback never left any- thing undone that courage, dash, and a fighting heart could do. Although one of the smallest men on the squad, and handicapped all season by in- juries, Dut overcame all handicaps by grit and courage, and played brilliant- ly in every game. Hn was one of our hardest and surest tacklers. JEWELL RICHARDS Right Hrzvlfbuck Among the breaks which cost a championship was the midseason ill- ness of right halfback Jewell Richards. Jewell was the pepper box of the squad, and much of the tean1's success was due to his fine individual work and the team spirit he instilled into his mates. .4 X WW 7 A- VV 1 fr - r - f. .1T4 'f '1' N v2f '. 1 ,. 3' . . i, -J . 11 7, 4-, V l ., .f V 1 1 1, ,,,,,,,,fM f 1 ,, V: . .ff ifvprigf' - fu-5-4, gg N v 'v ,' 1 ff-qpffix Yxyubff 21' ff: - .',flLf: it ',K,Q:k57j, lg! giijglfx..-x , L , Lb, 4 I 4, A,i.,,s-, 44 Li'

Left Tackle Alton always gave his best, and what a best it was! His team mates were delighted to show their appre- ciation of his splendid work by chos- ing him captain of next year's team: no small part of our confidence for 1923 is based on his proved qualities for leadership. DALE JONES Left Guard At the end of the Corpus Christi game, one of the officials said that Dale's work in that game was the best he had ever seen done by a high school guard. Dale was always where he was needed, at the right place to grab a fumble and race for a touchdown, or to intercept dangerous forward passes. JOHN PUCKETT Left End Uncanny ability at catching a foot- ball in any position. travelling from any angle, and at any rate of speed distinguished Johnnie's initial season as a regular. Johnnie is only begin- ning to tind himself, nevertheless he shows much natural football talent. He is an excellent drop kicker, and fair punter and passer. . - I7 ,fr diff 11f T'?'f'Qi-'l,-iw, . - Iffiff ,QP .1f21q2 I Vi ,am li Jain X x N A fm i ,V ,iff 'vi ,f X X-G5 ,fypezbf ffelje .fa 9 ,IW X B9
