The G. A. R. has a history which has a parallel only in that of the Armies of the Wo1.'lcl War. Its dealings with the Freshmen are of a bellicosc nature. Membership in the G. A. R. is secured by an application for initiation, the initiation is sometimes thrust upon him. Very sanctified and solemn rites are carried out during the process of initiation. H. S. It has been a fact of history that wherever a great organization is needed, that organization springs up. So has it been with the Lion Tamers. By means of this fraternity, the students unite themselves in many kinds of social activities which further their own interests, and contribute much to the spirit of good fellowship prevalent in this school. The singleness of purpose of the members, is for the betterment of student life. It is hoped that in the coming years all the Senior boys will unite and continue the work which, if it has not been a success, the predecessors still hope may serve as an inspiration. At the 1922 party, one girl exclaimed, So is school, Sherman, so is school, I have just been tossed from the B and G goat, I feel as useless as a confederate dollarfl But the Brown and Gold does not end its usefulness with the many social events it fosters, its real aim is good fellowship among girls, and the forming of high ideals in the school.
