For many years, the debating and declaiming teams have been unusually successful, and have brought to the B. H. S. a splendid reputation in this field of student activity. Though our achievement was not as great as in the past years, neither in any past year have we had so many discouraging hardships and for this reason much more credit is due to the B. H. Secretm'y and Treasurer The Brown and Gold Society with its annual events, conspicuous among which is the initiation party held each year in October when the Freshmen acquire their first real knowledge, is dear to the heart of each high school girl. At the 1922 party, one girl exclaimed, So is school, Sherman, so is school, I have just been tossed from the B and G goat, I feel as useless as a confederate dollarfl But the Brown and Gold does not end its usefulness with the many social events it fosters, its real aim is good fellowship among girls, and the forming of high ideals in the school.
