CL to R.l: Herb Goldstein, Stan Fishbein, Bob Blish, Gene Fasullo, one of the mainstays of the and Chuck Robisch, graduating nimrods, tind their Bowling Team, rolls a strike at the State Alleys mark on the rifle range. during the Lincoln match. When the subject of Track was brought up some years ago We had a desire to change the subject. However, in the past three years, Mr. Adam Cir- illo and Mr. Phil Weis, coaches of the Track and Cross-country teams, respectively, have been extremely successful in raising the sport to its deserved place among Tech's list of athletics. As proof, the 194-8 Cross-country Squad captured the Boro Championship. Bowling has added much to the Engineer ath- letic tradition. Following in the footsteps of Jerry Holiber and Marv Wolman, the present team, coached by Mr. Harry Krede, consisting of Cap- tain Hank Kurtz, Jerry D'Antonio, Larry Pisani, and Gene Fasullo, is attempting to gain perma- nent possession of the P.S.A.L. trophy by winning its third boro title. Our crack golf and table tennis teams, both under the reins of Mr. John Balsam, have also carved niches for themselves in Blue and White athletic history. The Golfmen, who annexed the Brooklyn Championship in 1948, will lose John Goodlet and Captain Art Stoll. Norm Tauber, Phil Broadman, and Captain Larry Hartstein, unde- feated in four years of interscholastic compe- tition, will he lost to the Tablemen. The Wallmen have done equally well, winning the Boro Championship in 1945. This year the Wallmen will lose Eddie Wohlers, Howie Wein- stein, Marv Haiken, and Art Kaufman through graduation. Soccer was resumed after a decade of inactiv- ity in 19444, and since that time Coach Henry Dorin's crew have revived it to such an extent that the Kickers are now in a position to chal- lenge mighty Lafayette for Boro honors. ln 1948 the Booters iniiicted the first defeat that the Frenchmen have suffered on their home field in a decade. Captain Helmuth Werner, a true great', who has placed on the all-scholastic team in three successive campaigns, heads the list of graduating lettermen: Pinky Pinczower, Manny Policandritis, ,lerry Landauer, and Bill Kristiansen. We will keep progressing .... lL. to RJ: Bill Kristiansen, Jerry Landauer, lL. to R.l: Marv Haiken, Eddie Wohlers, and Manny Policandritis and Pinky Pinczo-wer were the Art Kaufman, graduating wallmen, engage in outstanding men on the I948 Soccer Team. some pre-season conditioning.

IL. to R.l Ist row: Walt Brundage, The Big Splashes Besides smashing all previous Tech records with a 918-889 win over Boys High this year, the Nim- rods added an undefeated 1943 season, and a third place in the National RiHle Association Postal Matches to their long list of outstanding accom- plishments. Graduating with us will be Charles Robisch and Co-captains Stan Fishbein and Bob Blish, three men who will take their places alongside the other aces that have made our Rifle Team one of the most feared in schoolboy rifle circles. The Engineer Swimming Team ran up a string of fifty-four consecutive victories before they were stopped by Madison in 1946. It was fitting that Madison should again be the threat to the Blue and White victory parade. Both teams, undefeated, came to grips in the Tech pool to decide the Brooklyn Championship. This time the Engineers swam away with the laurels, 36-31. Many other Mermen have helped extend the new winning streak of the Connellmen to its pres- ent 16. Outstanding among these are ,loe Shan- non, Roger Duke, Carl Cording, Walt Brundage and Newt Pincus. And so it goes in other sports. The Tennis Team, led by Len Steiner, captured two succes- sive Boro crowns and one City Title, the latter in 1946. Captain Bob Liebers, Jeff Hagen, Jack Kaplan, Bob Abrams, Ed Burke, and Fred Lind- heim will be graduated this term.
