Bacloglio is named pre Tech's Celebs Are Presented Here Despite Numerous Requests, Threats S WE TQQK another drag at the weed, we telt a hand on our shoulder. That's enough tor today, boys. You've tinished weeding the campus. Come inside. We need two volunteers. Thrilled at the opportunity to serve the school G.O. President we ioyously tollowed in the tootsteps ot our mentor. Leading us into the again, as we had been doing tor the last six years, oak paneled chamber, he addressed us: Volunteers .... We bolted tor the nearest exit, but the chains held tast. Volunteers, you are to aid Protessor Van Tootree, the eminent psy- chologist. l-le is in this country to make a study ot all stages ot the techni- cal mind. That is, trom your type ot student to Jacoby. With a clap ot thunder and billowing clouds ot sulturous tumes, our mentor vanished. l-lastily translating the inscriptions ot the paneled walls, we arrived at the question which was to be our task. It read thusly: What has Tech clone for you? We made quick tor the cateteria where sat the answers to our questions. Stepping over an S.O.S. at the entrance, we ran into McDonald and Downing ot the Football team. Quick as a tlash we were on our teet again. Boys, we said, what has Tech done tor you? Downing gave us a glassy stare the was wearing contact lensest, smiled at McDonald, and they advanced towards us. Not wishing to iniure them, we sprinted tor the center section. There we tound George Diaman- takos and Bob Kranz, Senior Treasurer and Vice President standing over a prostrate torm. l-lit 'em again, George, Kranz yelled. Nahl said Diamantakos, wiping oti his bloody architect scale. l-le'll pay his dues next time. While walking trom this scene ot typical ,LN Tech lite, we came across a clean-cut youth who was laboriously piling milk containers in pyramids and then mentally computing the altitude ot the BRAINS JACOBY Arista Leader mier WH :

JULY lO,l943: AHhsinvade ScHy mor is coming trom all directions. Who was that woman I saw you with? That was no woman: that was my quiz robot! Why did the chicken . . . Oh, never mind. You know-Hu- mor. Real, original humor. They are rolling in the aisles, but the Longtellows come and make them put the dice away. And then, dancing. Colored lights, and two solid hours ot dancing to the strains ot a name band. llfveryone is calling them names.l We are getting cheated-the trumpet player is only playing with one lip! Gee, but it's swell. Senior Nighty what an experience! Only once in a lite- time. What's that you say? l DONT? Fitty-tive, huh. All right: Twice in a lite- time. But we all tail together! Senior Night, June '46. Same cast and audience, held over by demand. !Qq6'7v! , A BRIDGE OF BALSA WOOD shown at the 1945 Hobby Show . . . Good Knight, Sweetheart . . . The Art Course. tonight. l-le's thinking. What's he saying, Bill? No answer. Talkative Bill is quiet tonight. l-lis lock ot hair combed back and a tie where one never was, draped around his neck. The voice stops. A mo- ment's silence and a new clear voice begins. Like a set ot jack-in-the-boxes the rows ot students rise up in answer. A name is called. l rise, my teet like lead weights, through the aisle, up the steps. My hand outstretched, l receive a sheet ot parch- ment, a beaming smile, and a hearty handshake. l turn, go down the steps. Graduation is over. E ,L
