PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF 1959 It was Monday, December 1, 1958, and I was walking through the old house at 26 Rhodes Circle, which was empty and quiet. I seemed to hear the voice of a student of other years saying, “The new building will be wonderful, but The Spirit is the tiling that counts.” “What is this Spirit?” I asked, and the answer came back----- “The Spirit of Brooke Hill is that intangible something continuing to live in its graduates, which promotes scholarship, leadership, and pride in a job welldone. Who knows its ingredients? Love and truth are surely the most important ones. Diligence in work, adherence to principle, devotion to duty, unselfishness and sportsmanship, are all included in its character.” I proudly salute you, the Graduates of 1959, and commend to you The Spirit of Brooke Hill
