EXECUTIVE OFFICER 7 January 1973- Lieutenant David W. MATTIS LT David W. MATTIS is a native of Erie, Penn- sylvania. After enlisting in the Navy in 1961, LT MAT- TIS received any appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated in 1966. Upon graduation, LT MATTIS served for two years aboard the USS LYMON K. SWENSON QDD- 7291 as First Lieutenant, Navigator, and Dash Officer. In 1968, LT MATTIS attended Destroyer School in Newport, Rhode Island and subsequently was assigned as Weapons Officer aboard USS ROBERT K. HUN- TINGTON CDD-781J.LT MATTIS then attended Monterey U.S. Naval Post Graduate School for two years and received a M.S. degree in Operations Research in 1972. LT MATTIS reported to USS BRONSTEIN as Executive Officer on 7 January 1973.

COMMANDI G OFFICER 17 December 1974- Lieutenant Commander Michael H. LOY Lieutenant Commander Michael H. LOY was born in Ventura, California on 20 September 1940. He attended the University of Colorado, graduated from Tulane University and was commissioned Ensign from the Naval Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island on 22 November 1963. Upon commissioning, he served as Engineer Of- ficer in USS FRANK KNOX QDDR-7423. In June 1966 he was assigned to U. S. Naval Destroyer School and upon graduation served as Weapons Officer in USS INGERSOLL CDD-6523. He subsequently served as Commanding Officer, USS WHIPPORWILL CMSC- 2075, and was awarded a Master of Science degree in Management at the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master of Science Degree in Political Science from Auburn University. He graduated from the Air Force Command and Staff College in June 1971 and was subsequently assigned as Advisor to the Navy of the Republic of South Vietnam. He reported on board the USS BRONSTEIN, 17 December 1974. Among Lieutenant Commander LOY,s decorations are the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V , the Combat Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Cam- paign Medal with seven stars and the Vietnam Service Medal. Lieutenant Commander LOY is married to the former Marta Soules of Mexico City, and resides in Delmar, California.
