LT J. Martin Engineering Officer , ,, ,,,,, 1- . --.5 Mfg, an-M, 1:--f-1 Black oil is the lifeblood of a naval vessel. The tasks and moments of frustration of converting this black oil to usable energy and the application of this energy to run the ship is the -j ob of the BRONSTEIN Snipe . By burning this licorice-colored liquid, the snipe produces steam which propels the ship, de-salts sea Water, and generates electricity. From these basic building blocks of steam, Water, and electricity, the snipes provide services that make a cold ship into a home for 200 men. To burn 2.5 million gallons of black oil While steaming approximately 54,000 miles without an engineering -casualty is tribute enough to an outstanding gang of snipes. These men are responsible for the red E of engineering excellence which BRONSTEIN so proudly wears. '
