LT L, Keith Weapons Officer The high-pitched crack of a three inch gung the staccato beat of a machine gung the all- engulfing roar of a rocket motorg these are the sounds of drama, the noises one always associates with the Weapons Department. But what of the other sounds? The clatter of a paint chipper, the shrill ping of a sonar? These too, are Weapons Department sounds. From the lonely seaman combatting the ever-present rust to the DASH techni- cian readying his bird forflight. The many facets of life in the Weapons Department goes on. To the Sonarmen, ASROC Gunner's Mates, Torpedomen, and DASH personnel, go con- gratulations for the third consecutive year, the A for ASW excellence in the squadron. To the FT's and Gunner's Mates go a well done , for the ship's guns performed more reliably than ever before. To the Boatswain Mates and lst Division personnel goes anoth- er Well done by virtue of long hours and hard work by which the Stein still remains the finest looking ship in the squadron.
