This gang of skilled individuals is responsible for the maintenance and accurate operation of the ship's electronic equipment. As the equipment utilized by naval ships becomes more advanced and sophisticated, so must the technical background of these electronic wizards in order for them to respond to any equipment casualty whether from normal use or from battle. Their labor, highlighted by frustration and faulty parts, often carries them through sleepless nights with their re- ward being equipment that is once again operating at peak performance. OC Division is probably one of the most diversified divisions of the ship in that it encompasses ratings that range from com- munications to medicine. ln the field of communications are found the radiomen and signalmen with the former being re- sponsible for maintainingthat vital link which enables military units and installations to act quickly and effectively on any contin- gency. The signalmen, considered the finest in the fleet, transmit and receive the silent talk of the ship. Quartermasters are con- cerned with the safe navigation of the ship which, basically, is to know the exact loca- tion of the ship at all times and to get the ship to its destination on time. Similar to any major business concern is the Ship's Office which is staffed by Yeomen and Per- sonnelmen who handle the never-ending flow of paperwork. To the Hospital Corps- man, is entrusted the health and physical well-being of the crew. This one man hospital is constantly ready to cope with anything from a battle wound to a hangover. Last, but not least, is Mr. Morale him- self, the Postal Clerk, whose job needs no explanation.
