ANTHONY PEREIRA Our Foreign Exchange Student Anthony Pereira, our foreign exchange student, comes from Feria De Santana, Bahia, Brazil, a town about 800 miles from the equator and near the Pacific Ocean. Tony, as he is affectionately called, comes from a family of five. His father owns four medium ranches and his mother teaches at the elementary level. Tony's family lives in the city, but spends their weekends on the ranch. Here Tony developed his hobbies which include motorcycling, swimming, ranching, hunting, and soccer. Tony describes himself as being calm and somewhat introverted. I believe in working hard to achieve something. I really appreciate what I can get this way, I enjoy helping people and having friends I can trust and are interested in the same things I am. I have my own way of thinking but I am always willing to learn and accept new or different ideas. Tony and Mrs. Bloemker Tony and friends Anthony Pereira 29

FASHIONS THEN AND NOW As you can tell from the pictures above that the times have really changed for High School fashions. The typical student at the turn of the century wore starched collars, ties, high-button shoes, long frilly dresses, frenchrolls, and short, cropped above the ear, hair. The staff thought that it would be interesting, in view of the Bi-Centennial, to compare today's fashions with those of fifty years ago. Today's typical student might be attired in T-shirts with all types of pictures, sayings, and designs on the front and back--the wilder the better. Going with these T-shirts are the ever prevalent jeans and their many styles. 30 Shoes for any mood
