Once again the Arista Staff invites you to take off your hat and stay awhile. We hope that in future years this book will help you to relive those unforgettable high school days with basketball games, Friday night dances, cramming for tests, and rushing to be first in the lunch line. In general, many of the activities in our school can be symbolized by hats peculiar to the various activities, so we have chosen hats as the theme of our 1948 yearbook. Throughout our book are sketches and pictures of various types of headgear characterizing activities like patrol, band, and cafeteria work. Perhaps the most import- ant hat of all, however, is the graduation cap of the Seniors, wom one day, but remembered forever. To them in particular the Arista Stal? would say, Here's your hat-what's your hurry? THOMPSON, 1949 1 948 BOARD OF EDUCATION Hats off to the Brass Hatsuwto the men who give unselfishly of their time to create a better school a better community, and better relations between both. Upon them rests the tasks of drawing up the school budget and seeing that full value is realized in return for the EUGENE M, STULL, 1950 money appropriated. In apprecia- tion for the services which these men render to the education of the students of Brockport High School, we doff our hats! EDGAR H. BENEDICT, FRANK EPKE, CLERK TREASURER MR. OLIVER Home is where you hang your hat. For more than fifteen years, Mr. Oliver has hung his hat in the closet across from the principal's oflice. Now he is leaving that office to fill the position of School Superintendent for this district. His interest in the school and in the students, his dry sense of humor, his voice over the public address system- these are all as familiar to us as his black I-Iomburg. We shall miss them. We hope that he recalls his experiences at Brockport with as much affection as we do, and we extend to him our best wishes as he assumes his new responsi- bilities. H. L. VAUGHAN Hamilton College, B.A. Albany State Teachers College, M.A. is A. D. OLIVER Colgate University, B.A. University of Rochester, M.A. MR. VAUGHAN Take otifyour hat and stay a while. The students wish to welcome Mr. Vaughan as Super- vising Principal of Brockport Central School. We hope that he will consider Brockport as much his home as he did Ballston Spa where he served as principal until this February. In his first address to the student body, Mr. Vaughan asked for the cooperation of the students in achieving standards within the school which would be of value to themselves and to the community. We trust that he will find us eager to extend that coopera- tion and that his association with the school will be a pleasant one. ELIZABETH BARUSH Homemaking, Buffalo State Teachers College, B.S.
