SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Before the curtain falls on the last act of the life of Broadway High for the school year of 1949, let us look back to the year 1945, when we were Freshmen. The years seem long ago when we, 76 strong, climbed two flights of stairs to the Freshman Girls’ and Freshman Boys’ Rooms. Enthusiasm ran high and we enjoyed our first year in high school under the guidance of Miss Dorothy Trumbo and Mrs. Harold Dellinger, our class sponsors. For our officers in this year of innocence and bliss we chose Betty Fike, President; George Trumbo, Vice Presi¬ dent; Alta Sue Turner, Secretary; Yvonne Simmers, Treasurer. In 1946 we took our second step toward the halls of knowledge and fame as Sophomores. We enjoyed our role as students, under the leadership of our advisor, Mrs. Fahrney. We began taking more interest in extra-curricular activities, lead¬ ing all classes in various drives. At the end of the year we found ourselves pass¬ ing into the Junior Class. Our high school careers were half over but we were all positive that the first half had been a big success. We look upon the term 1947-48 with pride and satisfaction. Now we were “upper classmen”. During the year we were active in the band, glee club, and literary activities. As the Annual Junior Play we presented, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” with Miss Lester, our sponsor, as director and Miss Myers as assistant director. We also think of the joy and excitement we received from giv¬ ing the Senior Class of ’48 a banquet, which is an annual affair. We are Seniors. We have entered into the last and most important of our four high school years, with Mr. Phillips as our advisor. We presented as our class play, “Lena Rivers” with Miss May as director and Miss Trumbo assisting her. We will be glad to graduate but we shall look back over the years spent in Broadway High School with pleasure. As we go forth to broader fields of endeavor and to greater opportunities for self- improvement and service, we know that our teachers and principal will al¬ ways have for us a feeling of sympathet ic understanding. We are grateful to them for all that they have done for us and our wish is that they may never be disap¬ pointed in us. Harold Roller
