J Nl 96 Class Hlstol v In September 1952 our class entered a new world thlgh schooll aukward tel lfied and green We always eemed to be ln th way of the upper classmen and notl mg we did w as proper Our first horror whlch appears annually to all Freshman Classes Wa ll lltl3'l0Il VVe were stage truck at first but we oon overcame thls whlle accompllshlng our mlraculous feats Numerous rules x ere published by the Seniors and we had to obey them or suffer the con equenees Our first entertainment was a play Circus Solly and we were 3SS1St6d ln this our first diamatlc attempt by the Sophomore Class In the Sprlng we held the Freshman dance Everyone had an en ioyable time provlng it to be a soclal lf not a linanclal success We sold Christmas cards whxch proved to be verv profitable and made a great lncrease in our Washmgton fund At the close of the xear We enjoyed a plcnlc at Healys Park Swlmmlng boatlng and danclng were enjoyed by all Edward Lockrow Lllllan Eaton Elwood Eaton and Dorothy Dorman were cur leaders durlng the year We entered ou Sophomore year with big ldeas We st1ll thought that studying m high school was easy but we soon changed our mlnds when it came to Geometry and Caesar Nevertheless hav mg departed from the ranks of green Freshman and advanced to those of w1se Sophomores we tackled the hard tasks ahead of us Because of the absence of our adviser we d1dnt sell any Christmas cards but we d1d hold a card party m the Spring Agaln may I repeat It was a social lf not a financial success Durmg this year our Washington fund d1d not lncrease very rapldly Benny Adamkoskl Elwood Eaton Evelyn Baird L1ll1an Eaton Allen Stewart and Sally Young managed our affairs for the year In June we all en 1oyed a p1cn1c at Lansmgs where swm l lg boating and mlmature golf prov1ded amusements This was also a farewell pa ty ln honor of 'MISS Evelyn Fortmlller NJe reallv began to feel very grown up fthls may not have been noticeable to the faculty! when we entered our Junior year As the time was growing nearer for our Washington trlp and Com mencement we decided that we must mcrease our funds considerably at once We worked strenuous ly this year We sold Chrlstmas cards and a large amount was added to our funds In the Spring we decided to rex eal our hldden dramatic talent and presented Flos Beau It proved to be a great success and a sum of one hundred and fifty dollars was netted In May we held the first Junlor Prom ever to be held ln Broadalbm High School It was a gay and colorful affair with a ten piece band furnlshmg the music Exelyn Baird Lewis Fran' Elwood Eaton Lillian Eaton Helen Buell and Edward Lockrow were our leaders for the year Our annual picnic was held at Lansmgs What s this a dream or were we really Seniors It didnt eeln possible that our four years of work ln hlgn school were almost completed The magorlty of our t me had to be spent ln earnlng money and studying Although at times It proved very tiresome we really enjoyed It Our first duty and may I add great pleasure was to 1n1t1ate the Freshmen We forgot that three years ago we were in their same embarassing positions and made them do hard and embarassing feats The rest of the first semester was spent ln performing certaln Semor duties The tlme came to choose rings and Jackets The selecting of rings proved to be no Job at all but no one of the student body of Senlors seemed to want to agree when It came to the questlon of sweaters and Jackets Finally we decided on gray suede Jackets Wltll red letters In October we presented The Llght Eternal VVe had to work but lt was a great success We ourselves were astonished to find such dramatic talent among our classmates Just lmagme Dxvvy making an audlence cry' At Christmas we held a Carnival Dance and also sold many Chrlstmas Cards to help swell our Washington fund lwe had regular customers by now? In the last semester we continued with our work In February we held a pancake supper which proved a success Ed made the coffee' Durmg the year we sold candy and ice cream At last it was time for our trip to Washington Every one enjoyed the trip tremendously We made many new acquaintances but we were all glad to arrlve home Lillian Eaton Im IS Frank Elwood Eaton and Gene Haff managed our affairs for the year Now a hard and ted!-, struggle lles ahead of us but we all feel that with a httle ambltxon and assistance of the faculty we will graduate with honors Success to all my classmates Donors!
