Wally Cox, Ripple's All-City performer, led the Ripplites all year to become the highest scorer in Broad Ripple's history with a total of 429 points. Under the guidance of Coach Gene Beaman the Rockets won 9 of 18 regularly scheduled games besides breaking even in the City Tourney and winning two of three Sectional tilts. The cagers opened a killing schedule with two victories. Powerful Crispus At- tucks was the first to drop Ripple, 68-56. The Rockets were at their best in 1953-54 when they downed such powers as Sacred Heart, New Albany, Washington, and South Bend Adams. Gene McGarvey, senior guard, scored 133 points during the regular season to be the Rockets' number two point maker.
