ORANGE AID Every girl in school belongs to the Orange Aid, an organization which promotes friendliness and service. lt sponsors the Spook Spree, Dublin Fair, Thanksgiving baskets, and Christmas clothe-a-youth. Big sisters start new girls along the Ripple way. Each homeroom has a representative on the Orange Aid Council, which directs all policies for girls of Broad Ripple. Miss Ruth Carter, dean of girls, is the sponsor. PHOTO CLUB You've got to be good in this clubl Since the Photo Club, which Mr. Sidney Esten sponsors, is limited to fifteen members, only the best cameramen can belong. However, there can be any number of asso- ciate members. At Photo Club meetings they discuss photography and show pictures they have taken. These photographers are: Jim Annen, Carol Capel, Dick DeBoest, Carolyn Dessauer, Tomeen Garrett, Art Plumley, Don Schafer, George Seidensticker, Nancy Stassus, Jean Thiery, Robert Wirsching. QUILL AND SCROLL The international honorary society for high school iournalists is Quill and Scroll, which is directed by Mrs. Ruth Marie Griggs and Mrs. Jane Hall Gable. Members must have a high scholastic record and must have given at least one year's outstanding serv- ice to school publications. SPANISH CLUB L Habla vd. el Espanol? Spanish conversation and native dances are featured at meetings of the Spanish Club. Anyone who has taken or is taking Spanish may belong to this club. Qdeelalaf Newapapea Z The News Bureau writes Ripple publicity for Indi- anapolis newspapers. Besides this, correspondents keep scrapbooks of all items concerning Broad Ripple that appear in the papers. The News Bureau posts many of these items on the bulletin board in the main hall. Nancy Lowe, head of the News Bureau, has served as Indianapolis Star correspondent. Other News Bureau correspondents have been Marilyn Schetter, Indianapolis News, Kay Shipp, Indianapolis Times, Shirley St. Clair and Carolyn Cravens, North Side Topics. Sports correspondents have been Charles Aldag, Indianapolis Star, Paul Harbaugh, Indianapolis News, and Stan Paulsen, Indianapolis Times. Working on the News Bureau in the fall semester were Sally Max, Indianapolis Times, and Kristin Richey, radio.
