Miss and Mr. Riparian reign at Birthday Ball. R41fz.ple'4 Social fife Qaind Mau gedf Ripple's many activities blend to make a full season. More night dances were held this year than ever before. The Riparian's Birthday Ball on October 8, where Doris Graham and Dick Campbell were crowned Miss and Mr. Riparian, was followed on December 3 by the Varsity Drag, sponsored by the Letter- men's Club. Dances after bas- ketball games were introduced on February 10. At the Cupid Capers on February 17, Tom Barden and Sally Gordner were elected King and Queen of Hearts. A unique event of this school year was the surprise vacation Ripplites got from February 28 to March 7. This vacation caused by a' coal shortage, wasvonly the second shutdown in the 100 year excellent record of the Indianap- olis Public Schools. The annuoil operetta was given on October 17. Much tal- ent was displayed at the Ripples, the annual variety show, held on March 24 and 25. Spring brought a succession of big events. The Joe and Jane Dance, held April 14, was fol- lowed by the Senior Play, Ripple Arts Salon, Ripple Round-up, Senior Class Day, the traditional Junior - Senior Reception, Com- mencement, andthe Grad Dance.
