New lffudfic aacifified- ,Che Bed fn Maclweuf The new instrumental music hall lupper leftj, which is considered the best in the mid- dle west, is the result of 20 years of planning by Mr. Owen Beckley, director of the Broad Ripple band and orchestra since l937. Mr. Beckley incorporated his ideas for improved music facilities at Ripple in blueprints, which he redesigned each time a rumor was started that the building was to be expanded. A dream come true is the large rehearsal hall, 60 feet long and 40 feet wide. It was designed by acoustical experts so that music always sounds its best. There are four floor levels which make it possible for each student to see the director clearly. Three souncl- treated practice rooms with double glass and double paneled doors also are included in the new quarters. In addition, there is a music library where the music for the band and orchestra is filed and the instruments are kept. Another added convenience is the faculty office, which features three large win- dows through which the entire instrumental music department can be observed.
