HISTORY THIS IS YOUR LIFE The Graduating Class of 1959 In September of l9b7, the Britton's Neck School welcomed a new generation was starry eyed, expectant group of first graders, most of whom were to become graduates of the Class of '59 Your grammar school days were directed by Mrs Perry, your first grade teacher, Miss Calhoun, your second grade teacher, Mrs E Lovell, your third grade teacher, Mrs Strickland, your fourth grade teacher, MISS Cribb, your flfth grade teacher, and Mrs Bendenbaugh, your sixth grade teacher These falthful teachers carried you through ountains of books preparing you for the work that would confront you 1n high school Your studies were not all of your grammar school days Most of you shall never forget playing catching and hide and seek on old BN's school grounds You then entered the seventh grade Remember how important you felt when you were assigned your first locker and how great it was not to have to sit 1n one classroom all day During this year you came ln contact with the superin tendent, Mr Garrett Shall you ever forget his math and civics classes Eight graders, you were now called Because of difficulties over consol idation, school opened much later than usual that year Going to school on Saturdays to make up those days really was something different Mr McCorey was your superintendent Freshmen at last' You were finally beglnnlng your hlgh school career club work Several girls joined the basketball team A prlvlledged few of you were able to become a member of the Beta Club Your school life was now beginning to 1nclude many and varled 8Ct1Vit16S You were now labeled 'wise' Sophomores It took only several days ln Mr Evans' flrst year algebra class to make you wonder 1f you were really nW1Seu Sophomores You were now beglnning to enjoy class partles By now your high school career was well under way Juniors My, time is flying by Still under Mr McCroey's SUp6rV1S1OD you launched what was to be a most successful year of high school Both the girls' and boys' basketball teams traveled to Columbia to play in the state finals The boys were 'State Runner Up Champsn Several trophies were added to the schoo1's collection Several me bers of the Junior Class were members of these teams None of you shall forget the hlstory workbook we became well acquainted w1th in Mr Lyon's hlstory class April 18, 1958 was the date of your Junior Play It proved profitable as well as fun for all the Juniors Play practice shall always be a cherlshed memory for you Another date you wlll want to remember is May 16, 1958 This 18 the date upon which you enter tained the Seniors at a Junior-Senior Banquet This is an event that you w1l1 long remember.
