FFA 1-2-3-4g Basketball 1g Football 1: Junior Playg Annual Staff, By Suzann Naugle and Katherine Downing As we have finished all our work for this year 119673 on our own private planet Quldde, we have decided to go see what our classmates are doing, After we prepared to blast off, some 'crazy driver' almost hit our rocket, and ducking we saw it was I ack McClue. As we approached Mars, we decided to stop at the hospital and see how Irene Bryant was getting along with her Martian patients. Irene said Ken Welter was still in the National Guard and is now training troops on Mars. lust as we were leaving we noticed them carrying someone in on a stretcherg they said Louis Loesch had eaten too many food capsules, which he sold at his store, and had a bad case of indigestion. On our way once again we noticed a small planet where Frank P. was design- ing the craziest rockets, We decided to stop and discovered his assistant was John Korican who was growing a beard for disguise so all the girls from theother planets would quit chasing him. Planet Xyem was our next stop. Here was a group of top performers from Hollywood with Darlene Purple, the all-time great soprano singer, and Sharon Rudduck, the famous concert pianist. We parked our ship and went in to watch them perform. After the performance, the king of Xyem, LaMar Spohr, presented them with' a key to the planet. When we arrived in New York City we stopped to talk to Mary Becker who was working as a hostess on a large flying saucer air line until her fiance LeRoy Plank was out of the Air Force. She said Diana Seagert was a teacher in the Hawaiian Islands. She also said Helen Yungling, Betty Hawkins and Claudia Cook had all been married since school was out. We started to walk down 5th Avenue when we met Ed Faust and George Rusling who said they had been such good friends in high school that they decided to join the Navy together and make it their career. They said Richard Halstead had the famous Halstead Barber Shop on Broadway. We shopped for a while then went to the airport and got our ship and whizzed to Britton. We were very sur- prised to see it was almost as large as New York City and also surprised to see Dave Linn, Mayor of the city. While talking to Dave he said the 'Farmer of the County' award went to Don Dickerson, that the Superintendent of the Britton- Macon School was Raymond Krauss, and that the coach of the Britton-Macon football team was Ray Sharp. We decided to visit the largest dairy in that part of the country, Kimererland, owned by Karl Kimerer. Karl said that Dick Cox and his wife had just left for Europe where Dick was practicing for the Olympics in which he would participate. Karl said Howard Haas had gone to Greenland where he was a conservation officer and Richard Lutton was making deep-sea diving his career, After thank- ing Karl, we went back to our ship and blasted off. All in all, we had an exciting day which won't be forgotten for quite awhile. ll 4 Wd! The in- vocation was given by Reverend Fred Belleville. The band and choir gave special selections. The presentation of the building was given by Mr. R. S. Gerganoff, the Architect, to Mr. Clarence Herford, President of Board of Edu- cation, who accepted the building. Mr. Donald Currie, Director of Eastern Michigan College Placement Bureau, gave the address and the Reverend 0. E. Priest gave the benedictlon. Approximately six hundred and fifty people attended the dedication. Members of the sophomore class were guides to show people through the school. Refreshments were served afterwards by the Homemaking Departments. On February 2, 1955, the Board of Education employed Mr. R. S. Gerganoff, an Architect of Ypsilanti, Michigan to assist in planning the Education Facilities needed to meet the increasing number of students and to provide improved edu- cational service. Many meetings have been held with the Architect and his staff and a number of different plans and proposals have been considered. Attorney, Fred F. Thrnn, of Lansing, was employed to handle all of the legal problems involved ln submitting a bond resolution, On February 28, 1955, a well attended phblic meeting was devoted to re- ports on some of these plans. At a Board Meeting on May 4, 1955, a decision was reached to call a special bond resolution for May 28, 1955. This passed affirmatively which approved a bond issue of 3235, 000. 00, Kurtz Building Company broke ground in early fall of 1955, completing the building in time for the fall enrollment of 1956.
