Pearl Harbor was more than just a relaxing liberty port. The onload of the marines and equipment of BLT 1X3 and MSSG 37 was a major project which left no corner of BRIS- TOL COUNTYS deck space uncovered. We were ready to go and go we did, participating in the week long KERNEL BLITZ 84-1 before returning to Pearl Harbor. When BRISTOL COUNTY set out again on February 2 there was no looking back as we headed for Subic Bay and the Western Pacific. L Riff 1. V ! s 4 i 2 l 4 I l E 1 F f E I E i E 5 I

Before pulling in, we conducted a Land-ex at Green Beach in Subic Bay, the first of many for BRISTOL COUNTY. After several successful launches we moored at the Ship Repair Facility in Subic for a well de- served upkeep. Our major emphasis during this inport period was the preparation for what was to be the most -extensive amphibious operation for the deployment, TEAM SPIRIT 84.
