20 Frosh Week Committee: Gale Griffin, Dave Gardner, Joan Seymour, Zuriel Elvin, John Thompson, Reed Jenkins. Freshmen were lively . . . full of pranks . . . good sportts . . . They all donned blue bonnets . . . girls became pale-faces . . boys wore far out costumes and downy cheeks . . . Identification signs and odd blue and white socks were a must . . . Frosh glee clubs directed by upper classmen, gave concerts of school songs through- out the week . . . their assembly was actually good ... At senior court Justice was meted out to those caught in misdemeanor . . . Freshmen made the Y sparkle and were allowed to throw off their frosh togs for the stu- dentbody dance which climaxed Freshman Week. Cooling of f an un Joan Carter and Joan Schoenfeld think makeup is here to stay.

Hi Ei ujone ! Signs saying Hello from everywhere, bloomed on the campus during 1954 Hello Week . . . freshmen were made to feel at home . . . sopho- mores and juniors were glad to be back . . . seniors were sad because this was their last year . . . Everybody wore hello tags and smiled . . . Pres. Wilkinson used Welcome and Welcome Back, as the theme for his first official address in the Tuesday devotional . . . Outside on the lawn upper classmen offered daily courses in Hi- ology to the bashful, unfriendly, snobs, and freshmen . . . Inside the classrooms professors smiled or shuddered, as the case might warrant, at returning students . . . regarded newcomers with anticipation . . . but they said hello to every- one. Row I. Large crowds gathered for event . . . every Wed- nesday . . . variety of dances . . . live music . . . livelier dancers. G HkQ Ufa ihb Au kg Mat Dances . . . big part of some student ' s life. . . breaks monotony of week ' s studies . . . good way to make new friends . . . could be parleyed into a big date . . . sponsored every week by a different group . . . held in Social Hall . . . one day was girl ' s choice, but more fellows came than girls . . . Polyandry? Meeting someone for the first time might lead to bigger things. Couple here seemed to like each other ... un- abashed man in rear seems unaware that dance is biggest ten cent value.
