THE STRANGER 5 THE INEW GYMNASIUM AND ATHLETIC FIELD Brldgton Academy IS very fortunate to be the reclpxent of a new gymnaslum which w1ll be constructed durmg the summer Th1s lmprovement IS bemg taken care of through the generous bequests of the alumnl and frlends A lot of ground sltuated dlrectly behmd the school has been donated to the worthy cause It IS truly a beautlful slght wlth a commandmg vlew of Long Lake For a long tlme lt has been reallzed that the Academy has needed more space for 1tS mdoor wlnter sports The new bu1ld1ng w1ll definltely take care of thls sltuatlon and vull also benefit the health program of the school It seems qulte ewdent that lf the frlends of the Academy are Wllllhg to support the plan and glVE bequests that we students should take an lnterest IH the sltuatxon also The school here IS u ell vsorth our support as th1s wlnter It annexed the State Preparatory School Basketball T1tle and also defeated one of the best college freshman teams IH the east Get behlnd thls project and boost It to the l1m1t and reallze that you haxe helped set Brldgton Academy on a hlgher plane FST THE MUSEUM One of the most mterestlng bU1lCl1l'lgS on the Academy campus and one that IS not used nearly as much as It should be IS the museum For the benefit of those who would llke to know about lt! lets renew some of 1ts past hlstory For many years lt occupled the present Slte of one of the tenn1s courts In It Rlchard Balley carrled on a blacksmlth shop After hlS death the bu1ld1ng was purchased by the trustees of the Academy and they moved It to where It now stands As the school has grovsn the collectlons haxe grown ln proportlon At the present tlme the entire Museum IS bemg catalogued by Mr M W Bosworth and th1s IS helpmg to determlne 1ust what IS contamed IH the collectlons The followxlng are the lmportant collectlons BIRDS AND ANIMALS Largely from J C Meads collectlon There are 120 dlfferent specles of blrds and thls IS no doubt one of the best collectlons ln Ma1ne OLD FARM TOOLS AND HOUSEHOLD IMPLEMENTS These were obtained through the efforts of Mrs C C Spratt and Mrs J C Mead Y v 7 I I.
