LT C.A. MAIN, USN EXECUTIVE OFFICER Originally from Harrison, New York, LT MAIN graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine with a BA in Mathematics. He entered the Naval service in 1960 and was commissioned in October of the same year. His first tour was as Electronics Material Officer, Communications Officer, Combat Information Center Officer and Navigator in the USS TAUSSIG QDD-7465 from October 1960 to March 1963. He then was selected for Destroyer School and grad- uated with class 5 in September 1963. His second tour was as Weapons Officer in the USS Eugene A. GREENE fDD-7111, a FRAM I destroyer homeported in Norfolk, Virginia from September 1963 to September 1965. From November 1965 until reporting to the BRID- GET, LT MAIN was attached with various commands in Vietnam serving first as an advisor to the Vietnamese Navy on an LSIL conducting river patrols and gunfire support against the Viet Cong. He also served as Aide and Flag Lieutenant to Commander U. S. Naval Forces Vietnam and Chief of the Naval Advisory Group. LT MAIN 's decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with Combat V , Vietnam Campaign and Ser- vice Medals and the Armed Forces Expenditionary Medal for operations in the Dominican Republic. LT MAIN is a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity and the Marine Research Society of Bath, Maine. He is single and resides with relatives in La Jolla, California.

Lieutenant Commander Gerald M. Carter, Jr. , USN was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He received his commission upon graduation from the U. S. Naval Academy in June 1954. . Assigned initially to duty in USS R. A. OWENS QDDE-8275, LCdr Carter served as Assistant Gunnery Of- ficer and Operations Officer. ln May 1956, he reported for duty as Aide and Flag Lieutenant to Commander De- stroyer Flotilla FOUR. From March 1958 until April 1959, LCdr Carter served as Commanding Officer, USS BRAT- TLEBORO fEPCER-8525. Following a tour of duty as Assistant Lieutenant As- signment Officer in the Bureau of Naval Personnel, LCdr Carter was ordered to USS DAHLGREN QDLG-12j to be that ships first Operations Officer. He attended the U. S. Navy Command Information Center School enroute to DAHLGREN. In October 1962, LCdr Carter returned to USS R. A. OWENS fDD-8273 as Executive Officer, performing additional duty as Commanding Officer during OWENS' 1964 modernization. He attended the Command and Staff Course at the U. S. Naval War College graduating in June 1965. Prior to assignment as Commanding Offi- cer, USS BRIDGET QDE-10243, LCdr Carter served as Administrative Assistant and Aide to the Vice-Chief of Naval Operations. THE EW CGMMA DI FFICER
