'f ri Lea Ann Lindholm - Senior. Lea Ann has been a great asset to Briarcrest throughout her entire high -school career. She has been actively involved in the student govern- ment, and was Secretary of the student government her senior year. Lea Ann, who has given much of her time to church and various service organizations, plans to study nursing at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences and practice nursing out West. Andy Childs - Senior. Andy has proven himself to be a credit to school and to the community. He has taken an active part in the theatre department at Briarcrest. He is a member of the International Thespian Society, of which he was elected Best Thespian of 1978-1979, and of the Key Club. He has served in student government for several years, and was president of his class last year. Andy spends his spare time playing musical instru- ments. He plans to attend MSU majoring in broadcasting. -4 Jeff Grise - Senior. Jeff has proved himself worthy of this honor during his four years at Briarcrest. Jeff is president of the National Honor Society, secretary of the Key club, and has served in various areas of student government. Jeff is active at Bellevue Baptist Church, where he is on the youth com- mittee and sings in the choir. He also was in the cast of the spring musi- cal, South Pacific. He plans to attend Vanderbilt and study pre-medi- cine. .Mn ,,,,.- P -... ' e-+1 3 1,4 Linda Porter- Senior. Linda has proven herself very successful in many areas of her life. Linda has excelled greatly in academics, being elected to the National Honor Society and being the valedictorian of her class. She has been active in both music and sports, as she sang in the Concert Choir, was accompanist for the Girls' Chorus, and ran both Cross Country and Track. Linda, who enjoys reading, sewing, and playing the piano, plans to become a doctor. Honors - 123

WHO'S WHO Alan Clayton - Senior. Alan has been an asset to Briarcrest in various ways. He has received many football awards, including a position on the All County and All Dis- trict Offense teams, a position on the All Metro second team, and has lettered in football for three straight years. Not only does Alan enjoy playing football, but he is president of his class, and was previously elected Teenager of the Week. He plans to attend Memphis State, where he will major in civil engineering. 9 r i 3 , fl Carol Basham - Senior. Carol has been involved in many different activities during her four years at Briarcrest. She has been actively participating in Briarcrest sports, in which she has greatly excelled. She has supported many activities in church and in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, serving as its chaplain for 3 years. She has also been involved in Student gov- ernment throughout her high school career, and she plans to continue her education at Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. 122 - Honors f firm fi lliili 1 1 s.: Sheryl Baird - Senior. Sheryl has proven herself to be an outstanding student. She is active in the National Honor Society, of which she was Vice-President, and was Editor-in-Chief of desiderata, the school literary Magazine. She was a National Merit Finalist, was the class salutatorian, and still found time to participate in Junior Miss. Sheryl will continue her studies at Vanderbilt, where she is going on an Engineering scholarship. S4 J Bob Bodron - Senior. Bob has been active in many different areas of Briarcrest life. He has excelled greatly in his studies, which led to his being inducted into the National Honor Society and becoming a National Merit Finalist. Bob, who is a member of the Key Club, played football and was very active in his church. Bob has brought much credit to his school and will go on to great success in the engineering field.

'N ,a Billy Godwin -Junior. Billy's talents have been greatly appreciated at Briarcrest. Billy has been active in both the concert choir and the band, of which he has been an officer. He is in the Key Club, where he has been elected Chaplain for the 1980-81 school year, Billy will surely be a great suc- cess as he furthers his career. Candi Love -Junior. Candi has been a very active student her first year at Briarcrest. Besides working hard at her studies, she is a member of the Jaycees and participates in the Young Life organiza- tion. Candi, who enjoys reading and arts, has contributed greatly this year, and she will cer- tainly be successful as she continues her high school career. 124 - Honors Sarah Burton - Junior. Sarah's ability as a leader has been very help- ful at Briarcrest. She has served as both sec- retary and vice-president of her class and has been chosen Secretary of the Student Coun- cil for the 1980-81 school year. She has also excelled in her academic life, recently being inducted into the National Honor Society, serving as lay-out manager of the school's lit- erary magazine, and serving as the state sec- retary of Mu Alpha Theta. Her post-high school plans include study in either the medi- cal or the mathematical fields. Chuck Bolton - Junior. Chuck has been a talented and valuable leader at Briarcrest. He has actively partici- pated in the student government and has been elected president of the Student Coun- cil for the 1980-81 school year. Chuck has participated in both football and track and is a member of the Key Club. Chuck has truly been an asset to our school. Kirk Kilpatrick - Junior. Kirk has been active in a variety of organiza tions during his past 3 years at Briarcrest. He' served as Chaplain of his class this year, and he is very active in his church. He plays foot- ball and runs track, and he is in the Key Club. Kirk, who enjoys all types of sports, has been a very valuable part of Briarcrest life, and will be a success in whatever he pursues. Anne Dewald - Junior. Anne has excelled in many activities at Briar- crest. She has been a cheerleader, a member of the Jaycees, and served in student govern- ment. She has been elected to both the foot- ball and basketball homecoming courts, and still had time to serve as a Le Bonheur teen. Anne has made a great many contributions to Briarcrest.
