BOONVILLE NEW YORK
HAROLD P SEAMON
year of our Lord, 1952
Mynheer Egbert Meeuwszoon Kortenaer,
cfo Saint Peter,
Somewhere in Heaven Above,
Dear Mynheer Kortenaer,
You were no doubt surprlsed when St Peter handed you thls book You
asked yourself what your name 18 dolng on 1ts cover Well, here is the explan
atlon When you opened thls book, you must have recognized the name of your
old frlend, Gerrltt Boon As you perhaps know, Boonvllle and 1ts vlcinity,
where the students of Boonv1lle Central School l1ve, was f1FSt settled by
Lynheer Boon He wanted to call the reglon after you, because you were a great
natlonal hero of h1s natlve Holland But the other settlers who came wlth h1m
1ns1sted on calllng lt Boonv1lle For many years now, each S8W1OT Class of
Boonvllle Central School has kept your memory al1ve bj calling 1tS yearbook,
the Kortenaerlan
The Class of 1952 thought that lt would be a good idea this year to recall
to lts readers the reason why the book has this title and to present 1ts con
tents 1n such a way that you would get to know us
In the flrst sectlon of our book, you wlll be lntroduced to our dl3t1HgulSh6d
administrators and facalty and to the flne people who take care of our school,
our cafeterla and our busses In the second part, you w1ll come face to Pace
w1th all the other boys and glrls, from the oldest down to the t1n1est The
fourth section tells you about our actlvltles and accompllshments in sports, and
the flfth w1ll g1V6 you an 1dea of our varied muslcal, social and artistic actlv
lties In the last sectlon you w1ll flnd the advertlsements of frlends of ours
who helped to make the publlcatlon of thls book posslble and to whom we are
extremely grateful
At the beg1nn1ng o each sectlon, a number of our art1stically nlnded people
have let their imaglnatlons run w11d and have plctured what you mlght do 1f you
were ever to V1Sit our school
we hope that you w1ll engoy our book If, after readlng 1t, you snould de
c1de to pay us a ghostly vis1t, be assured, even though we would not be able
see you, that you would be welcome
Respectfully yours,
The Class of '52

The Class of 1953 began their Junior year with the most successful of
their social endeavors The Halloween Dance provided entertainment for the
entire high school
In November, Jade, Spinel, Ruby, Onyx, Metals, S17 50, Balfour, size
8 8 , and Federal tax, suddenly became a part of the Junior Class conversa
tion Finally the rings were ordered
The Christmas spirit was kindled and brightened by the lusty singing
of the Juniors in clubs and classes The climax came with the annual
Christmas party we presented the Seniors with a beautifully decorated
Christmas tree
The new year was inaugurated with joy and expense as the Junior Class
rings arrived
With happy hearts and gay times, the Juniors offered their Club
with the success that usually marks the Junior functions
we very anxiously await the treat that we hope the Junior plays will
give our audience
To add climax to the memorable year that we spent as Juniors, the class
is making preparations for the colossal extravaganza, the Junior Prom

Kotary, Tony Arrigo, Jerry Buckley, Ed Larrivey, Deryl
Bollinger, Duane Heller, Tom DeTragl1a, Bruce Brooks, John
Presta, Mickey Golden and Willie Grenier Despite their

ler of the season
TBPPY Buckley, Tony Arrigo and W1llie Grenier repre
