GARDNER EXECUTIVE OFFICER Commander Gardner grew up in Berea, Ohio and graduaTed from Baldwin Wallace College in 4969. He aTTended Naval Officer CandidaTe School and was commissioned as an Ensign May 8, 4970. His firsT Tour of duTy was as ASW and Nuclear Weapons Officer aboard USS WILTSIE CDD-7465 in San Diego, Ca. In 4974 he compIeTed DEEP SEA DIVING AND SALVAGE OFFICER SCHOOL and was assigned as Operafions Officer and ship's Diving Officer aboard USS BOLSTER CARS-385 in Pearl Harbor from 4972 To 4974. In 4975, afTer compleTion of Desfroyer School, he was assigned as OperaTions Officer aboard USS MARVIN SHIELDS CFP-40669 in San Diego, Ca. In 4977 he reporTed To USS BRUNSWICK CATS-33 in Pearl Harbor as ExecuTive Officer. ReporTing To NAVY POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL in 4979, he graduaTed wiTh a MasTers of Science Degree in Manpower ManagemenT. Prior To reporTing To USS BREWTON, Commander Gardner was assigned To The STaff of DCNO for MANPOWER, Personnel and TRAINING as a Manpower AnalysT in OP-43 Then OP-42. Commander Gardner has been awarded The Navy CommendaTion Medal and various uniT, campaign and service medals.
