,aiu VINCENT D. ROGERS MRS. VINCENT D. ROGERS Principal B.S., Dartmouth University of New Hampshire ,gn lalareciafion It is with a feeling of deepest regret that the class of 1959 and all the underclassmen of Brewster Academy bid farewell to Mr. Vincent D. Rogers, principal of the Academy for seventeen years. He has been to all a strong leader, a patient guide, and a firm friend. The position of principal is the most important iob in high school administra- tion, for it is the principal who has the future lives of the students in his hands. He guides them in their preparation for college and makes the recommendations that so strongly determine their chances of admission. Under Mr. Rogers' administration, students from Brewster have been accepted at some of the finest colleges in the country. On the other hand, not all students go on to college. Some pass directly into their live's vocations from high school. The principal must prepare these students with all the vigor at his command to face the world and become good, strong citizens, each a credit to his school. Since Mr. Rogers came to Brewster, the school's enrollment has doubled, and under his administration there have been several campus improvements. The field behind the school and the newly-seeded soccer field are now green and pleasant. Improvements within the school building include new chemistry and physics laboratories, equipped with the best facilities. Other improvements are the new dining room and the fine new gymnasium, one of the bestvin the state. Under Mr. Rogers' direction, the industrial arts course, art, advanced mathematics, advanced Latin, and French lll courses have all been added to the curriculum. The athletic stature of the school has also grown through the initiation of the Lakes Region Prep-School League, in the forming of which Mr. Rogers played a prominent part. All through these seventeen fruitful years Mr. Rogers has had by his side a wife with a keen interest in the Academy. Mrs. Rogers has worked diligently and willingly at her tasks without desiring to be in the limelight and often without receiving due thanks. To both Mr. and Mrs. Rogers we wish the happiness they so richly deserve. May we show our heartfelt appreciation to them by following their examples of diligence, dignity, and wisdom.
