Ghouls Present Themselves At Ross Holl Saturday night. October 31 . was a memorable night for most of the Brevard College students. Halloween night. 1981. was highlighted by a masquerade party and contest sponsored by Ross Hall. Carolyn Blount and Steve Plotter, who dressed as Tarzan and Jane, won the contest. Many students traveled to Hendersonvllle for their Halloween terror: a viewing of the film Halloween . Whether students were out for tricks or treats, a bewitching time was had by all. Students Welcome Parents To Campus This year, the month of November was highlighted by Parents ' Weekend and the grand reopening of Dunham Auditorium. This first weekend of the month proved to be a big success. Friday night. November 6th, the basketball team demonstrated that they were ready for action when they surged on to a victory over Asheville-Buncombe Technical College. The same evening, the Drama Department presented Once Upon A Mattress ' ' in the completely remodeled Dunham Auditorium. Under the direction of Mr. Sam Cope, the production premiered on Thursday night followed by performances on Friday and Saturday nights. Both students and their parents had the opportunity to enjoy the production. Saturday morning, parents were welcomed to meet President Martinson and Dean Wray and talk with the faculty and administrators while enjoying a Continental breakfast served in the cafeteria. During the lunch hour, the Brevard College Concert Band presented a variety of selections at a concert on the lawn. In the afternoon, the soccer and cross country teams enhanced the exitement of the weekend. The harriers ran their course well just before the soccer team defeated Spartanburg Methodist College in overtime. The women ' s basketball team also scrimmaged and won four of the four quarters played against Mars Hill College ' s varsity team. Many parents and students enjoyed the Big Band Concert presented by the Jazz Band on Saturday night. Dr. John Upchurch, band director, spotlighted many student performers while other students and their parents foxtrotted, waltzed, and even shagged. Students and parents ended this memorable reunion by attending the Sunday morning worship in the gym. Overall, the weekend was a complete success.
