To many of us, classes and grades played an important role in our life at Brevard. We attended classes from very early in the morning until sometimes late in the evening. We chose courses in a variety of subjects from math, English, band, history, and running, to theatre, sight singing, an, religion, bowling and botany. If we needed special help in our classes, tutors were provided. We were rewarded if we excelled. Schedules and schedule changes dominated a large part of our first few weeks. Our schedules were rearranged to meet our needs. 6 Introduction

Whether it was in the familiar quiet of the library, in our dorm lobbies, or in our rooms, studying became second nature. We put hours into chemistry equations, English papers, algebra problems, midterms and final exams. Our efforts paid off. Introduction 7
