Martha doesn ' t believe in letting studies interfere with her education, but she makes good grades in spite of truth meetings and midnight feasts. As Mrs. Coltrane ' s English coach Marian was always helping some poor freshman with his nouns and verbs. She plans to be a teacher.

Jeannette was an outstanding student, not only in the classroom but in such extra-curricular activities as plays, radio programs, and musical events. E. Pendleton Banks Corinth, Mississippi Day Students ' Club; Dramatic Club; International Relations Club, President ' 41. Pendleton ' s thorough scholarship was supplemented by his dramatic ability. Louise was an excellent commercial student and one of the most conscientious people on the campus. Lee Francis Beattv Sherrill ' s Ford, North Carolina Basketball, Manager ' 41; Cliosophic, Sergeant-at- Arms ' 41; Future Teachers of America, President ' 41. Francis is a good all-round boy. His able assistance helped many a bewildered student in the chemistry laboratory. A. P. Bell, Jr. Rosman, North Carolina Future Teachers of America; International Rela tions Club. It is hard to say which offered A. P. greater problems, his algebra course or analysis of the world situation at meetings of the International Relations Club. As Mrs. Thompson ' s assistant in the home economics labora- tory Nancy performs every task faithfully and well. Cleetwood en- joys his role as assistant Physical Education di- rector for boys so much that he works overtime, majoring in football and baseball and minoring in tennis.
