I resident J e66aae TO TH[ CLASS OF 1940 J OR THE past two years we have been living together. Students have re- ceived inspiration from the facuhy, and members of the facuhy have likewise been inspired by fellowship with students. Perhaps all of us have learned to live to- gether; and if so, one of the most important lessons of life has been learned. As mem- bers of the class move out into active life, they will have opportunity to get a more thorough mastery of this particular art. My message, therefore, is one of encourage- ment. In the simple affairs of life, seek to develop those qualities which lessen friction between individuals and between groups as well. Learn to be a good citi- zen. Share the burdens with others and remember that civilization moves forward by the sufferings of the men and women who live in every generation.
