Arthur ' s ef- fiency in the shop and as assistant dean of Taylor Hall has won genuine respect from the boys. TALMADGE LEROY BURNETTE Swannanoa, North Carolina Delphian, Secretary ' 38, Critic ' 39; Agriculture Club; Buncombe County Club, Vice-President ' 39; Clarion Staff; Medical Science Club. Talmadge, bet- ter known as Red, should be president of the Spanish Athletic Association. His motto is Come in and Throw the Bull. LEWIS CALDWELL Campobello, South Carolina Medical Science Club, President ' 39. This very able chemistry laboratory assistant is a man ' s man. He has the friendliest smile we ' ve seen in many a day. NETTIE GRACE CAMERON Polkton, North Carolina Euterpean; Anson County Club, President ' 39; Folklore Club. This gentle-mannered, conscientious senior has succeeded in making friends both on the campus and out in town. S. C. CARPENTER, JR. Lincolnton, North Carolina Delphian; Band, Clarion Staff, Editor-in-Chief ' 39; Lincoln County Club; Medical Science Club. We predict that S. C. will pass from the stags of writing one-act plays and short-stories to the editorship of a small country newspaper. When it comes to making public speeches, Evelyn always says No ; but with her wit and good humor, she has made her place in Brevard College. Jack has been Mrs. Buckner ' s right-hand man. What will she do without him? Either his acting or his good looks made him the hero in many of our plays. He is devoting more time to his future vocation since Johnnie Lee left. JENNINGS F. Herr Boggs is always seen where there is something of interest happening on the campus. His varied activities indi- cate his alertness and usefulness. ALICE BILLINGS Dockery, North Carolina Euterpean; Fireside Club; Folklore Club, Critic ' 39; Sigma Pi Alpha. Alice is a quiet Titian blonde, whose motto is Work before play. VAN BIRMINGHAM, JR. Gastonia, North Carolina Delphian; Band; Boosters ' Club; Gaston County Club, President ' 39; Medical Science Club; Photo- Nature Club; Track Team. Van, this tall, dark, and handsome young man, is quite the Romeo of our campus; and Kat seems to be the lucky Juliet. ELOISE B. BROOKS Midland, North Carolina Mnemosynean; Fireside Club. With her quiet, pleasing personality, she is one of the sweetest girls on the campus. Blanche is always her better half. DALLAS MARION BROWN Crossville, Tennessee Delphian; International Relations Club. Tarzan is a member of the McRae Cottage Crew, and a drier humorist cannot be found. Una, the girl with beauty and a sweet disposition, is popular with both boys and gills so popular with one boy that he asked her twenty-seven times for a dale before he succeeded. After two years a! Brevard College, Horace liked Sophomore English so well that he decided to stay an extra year.
