■ ■ ■I LUNETTE OCTIE CORNWELL Leeds, South Carolina We ' ll always remember ' Luney as one Warm-hearted, true, and full of fun. Mnemosynean; Glee Club; Choir Fireside Club, Secretary ' 36; Travel Club; Baptist Club. A wave of the hand — a smile — a cheery word of greeting — and she passes on. Lunette — or better known as Luney — is always ready to begin something; and we ' ll bet there ' ll be a happy ending, too. ELIZABETH HARRELSON CRAFT Cherryville, North Carolina J friendly smile anil cheery hello. There ' s nothing about French this girl doesn ' t know. Glee Club; Choir; Fireside Club; Mnemosynean; International Relations Club. This girl is one whom you may always find wrapped in some French book or a classic. It is good to have her in a class to answer the questions, though. In spite of her classi- cal-mindedness, Elizabeth has quite a modem outlook on life. WALTER FRANCIS CRAVEN Winston-Salem, North Carolina ' Cause his humor ' s never lading and his loyalty can ' t end. He ' d like with Midge to claim him even more than just a friend. Cliosophic; Choir; Glee Club; Cheer Leader; Democratic Club; Football; Baseball; Pertelote staff. Big words like original, intelligent, dependable, and capable describe Frank but even these words do not tell of the friend who made the gay things gayer and the difficult things less difficult. WILLIAM RAYMOND CRAVER Lexington, North Carolina Happy-go-lucky, athletically inclined — A truer friend is hard to find. Delphian; Ministerial Band; Agriculture Club. Bill is rather quiet, but he is all business and a good bet for any one but the Biddies. He ' d be good either as a preacher or a farmer — which will it be? VIVIAN MARIE CRAVER Lexington, North Carolina Always pleasant, always sweet, A girl like Tiv ' is hard to beat. Mnemosynean; Choir; International Relations Club. She is one of the quietest girls that we have. She seldom pushes out in front but always cooperates well with her fellow- workers. She is a very studious girl and does good work. She is a faithful friend to everyone, and the kind that will make the world better. JAMES WOODROW CRAWLEY Greensboro, North Carolina Ambitious Crawley of the Ministerial Hand ' May he have the best success in this held of great demand. Cliosophic; Ministerial Band, Chaplain ' 36; Mis- sionary Club; Methodist Club. JAMES EDWIN CARLISLE Bostic, North Carolina Popular, steady, honest, and true. With a keen sense of humor — the ' Eddies ' are few. Delphian, President ' 33; Choir; Glee Club; Dor- mitory Council; Student Council, President ' 37; Methodist Club; Dramatic Club; Boosters ' Club; Mid-Week Prayer Service Committee; Baseball, all- conference catcher ' 36; Monogram Club. MARGARET CLEMENTINE CHRISCO Badin, North Carolina Her giggle ' s infectious, her smile ' s like a gem; We ' ll never target our smiling ' Clem. ' Euterpean; Photo-Nature Club; Republican Club; Presbyterian Club. Mix one part of beauty with two parts of friendliness; add a dash of mischievous- ness, with a spice of indifference; combine all with common sense; and we have the lovable scamp known as Clem. Those little devils behind those black eyes demand a man in every port — but may the best man win. EDWARD CLAYTON Brevard, North Carolina He plays a prank and then he grins — When ' Eb ' arrives the fun begins. Day Students ' Club; Football. When Eb starts down the football field with the ball, or when he knocks a baseball over the fence, the school goes wild. But there ' s more to him than mere athletic prowess and a casual classroom crack. Here ' s to your future, Eb! Go to it! MILDRED ALLENE COGDILL Fletcher, North Carolina Original, vivacious, sweet and cute, As bright as red hair is her good repute. Euterpean; Dramatic Club; Fireside Club; Choir; Pertelote Staff; Sophomore Cheer Leader. Midge is the cutest little nut we ' ve ever met. Jolly, laughin ' , careless — her days are always sunny for herself and others. Her personality is a delightful mixture of fun and good sportsmanship. CHARLES CALVIN COOK Asheville, North Carolina He ' ll climb to his goal with a cheerful outlook — This likeable fellow, Charlie Cook. Cliosophic; Dormitory Council. From comparative isolation at Ross Hall, Charlie calls our attention to his keen humor. And his looks — girls, have you noticed? Here ' s one boy who ' ll coma out at the top. BESSIE PRICE CORNELIUS Winston-Salem, North Carolina With Rough-house, Poovey, Handsome, and Van — Wherever there ' s Corky — there ' s always a man. Euterpean; International Relations ' 35- ' 36; Metho- dist Club; Most Original Girl in Class. We don ' t believe there ' s a person at Brevard who doesn ' t know Price. She ' s here and there and everywhere, with a twinkle in those blue eyes and a flock of boys at her heels. 21

WILLA AGNE DAUGHTRY Clinton, North Carolina Sweet and talented, lovely and hind — Friends like Il ' illa are hard to find. Mnemosynean; International Relations Club. Cute! That word so endeared to the feminine tongue describes her perfectly. This popular little brunette has not been with us long, but she certainly made for herself a place — and filled it. MAX SINCLAIR DEAL Conover, North Carolina ' . fast ball, and personality, too, Put Deal among the all-around few ' ' Delphian, Reporter ' 37; Monogram Club; Football; Tennis; Baseball, Captain ' 37; Dormitory Council. Jerry ' s the life of the party or classroom or any other place in which you find her. Her outstanding capacity for brilliant handling of sarcasm and pure humor is really re- markable. Her accomplishments prove her ability in work of all kinds. It will never be said that G.E.D.V. was not at the top. At the top she is, and there she will remain. Amen. NELL GRACE DAVENPORT Greenville, South Carolina There ' s more lite and vim and pep in Nell Than scores of tongues in hours can tell. Mnemosynean; Fireside Club; Baptist Club. Ha, ha, ha, etc. — so far into the night. Nell caused all that laughter. I honestly believe she causes more fun than the proverbial barrel of monkeys. What of it? We like it. Ha, ha, ha. VAUGHN HAMPTON DORSETT Ramseur, North Carolina He ' s never gloomy, he ' s never sad — The very best roomy that Scott ever had. Cliosophic. Witty? Methinks even that word won ' t define him.
