Hiltv The Board of School Directors, servants of our community, dis- cuss and act upon matters pertaining to the various phases ot public education. It is comprised of seven members elected by thu voters of Brentwood. The Board meets once a month and serves for a term of six years. A solicitor is retained for guidance on legal matters. 3 1206 Class of 1959: You would be confused if you had never studied higher mathematics and opened a geometry textbook at random with the hope of learning Euclidian theory. However, if you began at the beginning of the book and learned the axioms, you would not be perplexed at all. So, too, it is with life. lf you will hut learn and practice the axioms of life, you will be happy and at the same time make a Worthwhile contribution to civilization. If you do not heed the axioms of life, only frustration and hewildermcnt can result. One of the axioms of life is that you must accept the world as it is and not as you think it should be. This is one Way of saying you must accept reality. It behooves you to make the reality of your years a hit better than the reality of past gen- crations. Good luck and hest Wishes! C. A. Other highlights of the season were the beating of Mc- Donald and the tying of Homestead. The McDonald game was the most exciting game as we scored with only minutes to go in the fourth quarter. It was a sec-saw battle all the Way. Many of the games were close and the scores would have heen reversed by an extra last minute Brentwood basket. Leading a talented and well-coached team were seniors Chuck Narvin. a 4 year letterman, Gene Nicholson, Ed Miller, Al Lawther, Carl Leslie, Mike Branchen. Tom Von Philp and head manager, lim Creighton. all of whom will he missed next year. One of the high-lights of the season was the hreaking of the school record of S0 points when against Bethel, the final tally showed Brentwood S8 Bethel 71. Chuck Narvin set an all-time high for Brentwood hy scoring 448 or a 20 point game average. Chuck also set the single game high record hy scoring 38 points in the YVest Allegheny game. Bob Henrich was second in the scoring with 279 to his credit. He returns next year, under the super- vision of head coach VVillia1n P. Returning field event men are john Wingert- zahn, Ed Melvin, Ed Miller, Bon Miller, Gene Nicholson, and junior Ed Luck. Mr. Anderson stated, The past two seasons have shown definite improve- ment. This year we have great potential and should be strong with a possibility of several boys going to the state finalsf, Our greatest strength this year is in the discus with John Wingertzahn, Gene Nicholson, and Ed Melvin. The big success of the year was beating Central Catholic. Coached by Robert Schwille, the lunior High team had a rough season with a record of 3 Wins and 8 losses. Although the record Wasn't impressive, the boys learned the fundamentals and how to play basketball. Next year's V. team can expect Junior High lettermen David Lewis, Bob Douglass. Bob Fallgren, Bob Bursey, Tom Quigley, George Bender, and Bob Park.
