IN RECOGNITION ot the stalwart part the community must play in the story ot Pro- gress in Education as exemplified by the action ot our SCHOOL BOARD in the construction ot the addition to our I-Iigh School in order to give to the students ot Brentwood EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES of the most modern type. The story of Progress must ever look backward to those whose courage, faith, and earnest desire for better things lead them to act when it would have been tar easier to do otherwise and our own story of PROGRESS IN EDUCATION in Brentwood could not have been told.

1-pw.- W - SAMUEL E. MCDCNHLD High School Principal When Mr. McDonald tirst became a teacher of high school education in Brentwood in the years ot 1930-3l, our High School consisted of two rooms in the Elroy School. ln the tall of '31 the High School was increased by the addition ot one room in Moore School, and by two in the Christian Church. ln February '32 the present High School building was completed, and Mr. McDonald was appointed Principal. At that time commercial sub- jects were added and by '35 our program ot studies included three courses-Academic, Commercial, and General. Now our school is trying to change the subject matter taught to those not going to col- lege, from college preparatory work to that which will be more practical and helpful to them when they go out to look for a job. In addition, courses in Consumer Education were organized this past year. A great deal of progress has been made in the schools in Brentwood since Mr. McDonald became Principal. This year an addition has been built which provides Brentwood High School with a new gymnasium, an auditorium which can seat the en- tire student body, cafeteria, music room, and a few regular class rooms. Brentwood High School is proud to show the public a beautiful building which should be an in- spiration to all students passing through its halls.
