Division All Holystoners Aft: -One, Two, Three and a Four .... '7 Third Division is off-Nwith a rock-and-roll beat to holystone the fantail from frame 127 aft. The only division with a synco-pated scrub down, Third also runs the crane with a fine hand to hoist the shipis boats which are kept in their hangar deck. Whether mooring or anchor- ing, there is always a job for Third Division, handling number six line or putting theboats in the water-and there are always those awnings. Third mans Turret Three during General Quarters where the Gun Gang works valiantly to make gunners out of deck technicians. A keen competitive spirit runs among the three gun rooms when loading and firing. And woe to the unhappy powder trains if powder is not waiting for the gun room crew when needed. A versatile bunch, Third Division becomes helo technicians to help their tourist shipmates launch their whirly bird at the word, Flight Quarters, prepare to launch helo W. During off hours at sea the compartment is filled with men, sleep- ing or playing cards, some in the hangar deck holding 3rd Division Choir Practice , or working out with weights. When liberty call goes inport, scarcely a soul is to be found aboard. Whether aboard or as- hore the division has a stick-togetherness which helps the division get ahead.
