NAVHGATH The Navigation Department is made up of a highly trained group of men under the direct superv1s1on of the Navigator. These men are trained to aid in the navigating of this ship or any other, over any navl gable Waters on the earth, making sure that the ship is in the right place at the right time. The Quartermasters are the men directly responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the navigation bridge and all other parts of the ship having to do with navigation. Working under the navigator and senior Quarter- master, they always do their part in keeping the bridge a smart, smooth running, iighting team. Other than the specified task of navigation, the QM is required to be skilled in various tasks partly concernd with navigation, such as steering. Whenever a need arises for an especially qualified steersman, the QM is always ready. The QM also observes and records Weather observations, observes and records all happen- ings directly concerned With the ship or in the vicinity around the ship in the QM Notebook, this being used as a reference to Write the majority of the ships deck log, keeping up and maintaining all clocks on board, making sure that each one is in good running order.
