Passing through the Formosa Strait to the southern end ot Taiwan, we visited the second largest city and second major port ot the Islands, Kaohsiung. We crept into the tight little port under a dense tog, but during our two-day stay the weather was bright and sunny-quite opposite from Keelung. ln this quaint oriental city, colorful Chinese temples were of interest, and in the nearby city of Tainan we saw torts built by the Dutch in the seventeenth century.
