Gone were the class activities during the week and the parade before the game. However, things were also added to the week too. A singles dance, an open gym night and a fun run were part of the additions. These changes were made to hopefully encourage the school to once again remember that the important part of the activities is the game itself. Town fo and faculty joined in the fun run. The week ended in the romantic mood of TWILIGHT TIME. QUEEN DAWN CHENOWETH 10 Have We Got The Spirit? It's The BREMEN SPIRIT!!! The students at Bremen are full of spirit. This has been shown clearly this year through the many projects held to help the community. Both the Thanksgiving and Christmas can food drives were a success in helping the needy. We were especially proud of the Christmas drive since it was the most successful in the history of Bremen, raising over 3,000 pounds of food and over $600 that was used for food certificates. This was not the only time Bremen students could be seen, for they were also found helping the Lions and Knights of Columbus with their annual donation drives. So the spirit of Bremen can be seen anywhere help is needed. After collecting for a week, the time comes for packing Joe and Brian take a picture break after hours of pocking Superintendent Wm Sharp offers the first donation to Dawn Chenoweth and Principal George Bteber cans. 12 Visiting Washington, D.C. Before my trip to Washington. D C.. I really didn't know what to expect. I now feel that this was a great experience in my life. From the sights I saw to the people I met. the Presidential Classroom turned out to be a very worthwhile experience, and everyone should, at some time in their lives, visit our Nation's Capital. - Tom Ramsey My week in Washington D. C. was very fast paced, but every moment was well spent. I met many interesting people and even made a few good friends along the way. The trip, lectures, and sight seeing, were excellent so I would personally recommend the program to any student even if they are not interested in politics. Through my experiences in Washington D.C. I feel that I have become a more open minded person. Dave Pecka At the bock entrance of the White House. This years Booster Club took a new view at entertainment. Instead of watching just our faculty get embarrassed playing people like the Bears, they found something that could embarrass not only the faculty, but juniors, seniors and even members of the town. In order to do this, the first step was to get donkeys and change the rules of the game. Almost all action was legal only when sitting on or holding onto the donkey. Needless to say, the donkeys did not always choose to do what the rider wished them to do. This made for three very interesting games with the Juniors winning over the police. Seniors winning over the faculty and finally the Seniors winning the playoff game over the Juniors. This goes to show that those SENIORS REALLY KNOW THEIR DONKEYS! It took the place of this year's imcomplete Spirit Week events, which used to take place at Homecoming. Revit Week included a Quiz Bowl, Talisman Events. Class Cheer, Class Color, and a Tug-of-War. The Senior class took first place overall by winning the Talisman events, the Class Color, and Class Cheer The Juniors took second place. The won the Tug-of-War. The Sophomores came in third Place and they won the Quiz Bowl. The Freshmen were new to these events and took last place - better luck next year!! Revitilization Week!! See ya next year!! -Jolene Gest I had fun this year but like most everyone else, disliked some of the rules and policies of this school. Hopefully next year will be the best for the best graduating class of '88! -Gabriela Hernandez This year was O K.!! With the few exceptions of taking away Spirit Week, dress codes and new policies. Hopefully next year we'll have a great time! Because the class of '88 will graduate. -Michelle Popowski This '86-'87 year was pretty good. Winning the Tug again was great, but losing overall by half a point was a little unfair. But we all know whose going to win it next year and that's all that matters! Class of '88 is the BEST. -Craig Donofrio This school year was O.K.! Hopefully next year I hope that Bremen could give us a school break when all other public high schools are off. -Erika Millhouse Heavy Traffic Area ... Fashion is a way of expressing my style and emotions. Boots get wilder every year and this year is no exception. Special mention goes to sleek riding boots and flirty fringe boots. Now there's an outfit to fit every YOU ! The Greening Of Bremen At the beginning of this school year, Bremen was making many improvements on the school as well as the grounds of the school. With the new detention pond in front of the school, some of the problems of flooding would be relieved and the new laws about the plumbing would be met. We could look down on the construction daily from our classroom. Obviously the scene in front of the building was not the impression with which he wanted to greet people. We approached the landscaping of the front as a problem and began to apply the problem solving techniques we had been learning all year. The students chose, as project co-ordinator, Michelle McDonald, whose first words to the class were, let's brainstorm and generate ideas.' From there others in the class volunteered for the tasks we felt were necessary to do the job. I had much earlier approached Steve Borden, a Bremen alumnus who owns Down to Earth” landscaping, of the feasibility of doing the front. I indicated that I felt we could be successful if we involved many students in the project. The project, which will also be living lab for the Plant Science class, would be basically planted by the students. The price tag for the completed project was $8,000. Since money and plants were needed, the name Greening of Bremen was established. Fundraising consisted of personal donations from teachers. students, parents, organizations, and businesses, each helping to Adopt-A-Plant. A gift from the Booster Club was most appreciated and a gift indicated by the Jaycees if Midlothian is pending. The project to which so many donated money, time, and effort will make a dramatic improvement to Bremen and the Bremen Community. Although this did slow us down, it didn't stop us from producing a fine yearbook. This year's staff was great!! Without them, there wouldn't be a Yearbook. Mrs. Rowe was also beneficial to the Arrow. She knew just how to ‘motivate' us into selling just about everything. I wish a good luck to next year's Editor and to all of you who read this fine publication!” - Thomas C. Ramsey Arrow Editor 192
