May, 1954-We are now looking for some fellow classmates to share the responsibility of ordering and handling our class rings with Miss Bader. It seems as though Donna Thompson, Robert Dougherty, Alba Borsoi, Billye Bigelow, and Bev Lynch are our chosen ring committee. Again vacancies left by the graduating members on the cheerleading and major- ette squads are being Hlled by members of our class. Liz Adams and Sue Holsenbeck-Majorettes. Erni Redmond, who was switched from the Majorettes to cheerleading, and janet Ledbury are now cheerleaders june, 1954-WHEW! We made it! Now we are looking forward to our most exciting year. YOU ARE THERE- September, 1954-juniors-A most dignified name for a most different class. Again Little Barry is serving his term as president and Donna Thompson and Billye Bigelow have taken their seats around the Student Council table. ., . Beginning of November, 1954-Ah, there he is! Now we see our fellow classmates roaming the halls with fingeritis, showing off their rings. Thanksgiving, 1954-W-E-L-L . . . Here we are. Same players, same students, same bus, same driver, and same decision have just arrived at B.H.S. We've lost again. March, 1955-We have just attended the premier of the play Dark Mountain directed by Miss Lor- son. Nina Broekhuysen and Robert Boswell are now accepting their trophies for the outstanding actress and actor of the year. The Sob Family has returned to the hills of Kentucky. May, 1955-After one of our usual riotous class meetings, we have finally succeeded in electing chair- men to head the various committees for our long- awaited prom. Phil Babin and Janet Ledbury are the Social Chairmen. Our committee chairmen are . . . YOU ARE THERE Date September 1957 Lets look in on our first big year of the vsonderful four yet to come Herc comes Billy Bodie who was elected Class Presrdent at the end of our eighth grade year and is to head the largest class yet to enter Branford High October 1952 We see the new representatives elected to various clubs and committees coming dovtn den and Dick Sampson proudly wearing their new Student Council pins New Members also hase al ready been added to the BHS Gestapo CService Squadb Saturday is here Its time for the first foot ball game of the 1957 53 season Hey arent those some of our Freshmen out there playing with th first string? There goes Phil Babin Dom Drago and B111 Babcock Whats this? A Freshman cheerleader' Yes its Geri Kaczynskt helping to lead our team on to victory Heres the half and now we see the band marching down the field led by two of the many new Majorettes Leona Haddock and Clarre Fresco Thanksgiving 1952 10 00 AM Our bus has just arrived for the Tournament of Roses football game between East Haven and Branford Everywhere we look we see hopeful faces hoping that this game will mean a victory for Branford 17 30 PM Our buses are leaving with teary eyed spectators comparing the previous years win to this years loss March 1953 Place Payne Whitney Gym Obyec tive to beat our uprunning opponents at the Basket ball Tournament We win over Bullard Haven in the hrst game and lose to East Haven in the second game Place Gym Event Shamrock Serenade CLASS HISTORY Our social life is lust beginning The girls are des perately trying to maneuver the boys out of corners and we can see a little success in their attempts April 1953 Place Auditorium On stage eight tiny stage struck Freshmen are dancing to the Belle of the Ball our star performance of the year Place Auditorium Stage Equipment mats springboard boxes parallel bars and more mats Our signs of becoming passable athletes thanks to the coaching of Miss Moessmang and Coach Petela May 1953 Place Auditorium We are now waiting for the fmal decisions which will determine who the new members of the majorettes and cheer leaders are The decisions are announced' Donna Thompson is our new cheerleader and Elaine Zaflino and Ernie Redmond are our new mayorettes une 1953 Place Branford Point The Fresh man Class picnic Happy Freshmen are seen every where with smiling faces and full tummies YOU ARE THERE September 1953 Here there everywhere What do we see? Sophomores' What are they thinking of? Dissecting worms in Miss Baders Biology class The President for our newly organized Sophomore Class is Barry Royden November 1953 Thanksgiving Day Place East Haven Are you askrng us what happened? B S A M... bids in silver and blueg Jack McCoy-to supply wonderful music by Tiny Markleg David Barker- to supply the delicious punch and cookiesg Nancy Taylor-to advertise with unusual publicityg and Geri Kaczynski-to decorate the Queens Corner in delicate silver and blue. She is also to supply a crown bearer. Here it is May 21. Time 10:30 P.M.-Place -Pine Orchard-Our Star Dust prom. The Presi- dent is about to announce this year's royalty. Primula Murphy is crowned queen, attended by Nancy Tay- lor and Elaine Zaffino. The Prom was wonderful but -what a bunch of sleepy heads went on picnics the next day. june, 1955-The final action of our junior year has been to elect Carol Dooley and Walter Sylvester as 1956 co-editors of the biggest and best Alilcarfwzc yet. WE ARE HERE- We join the ranks of the balconites. Seniors-at last! Carol Dooley and Harry Corning are giving additional service to the Student Council. Elaine 5--L..J Zafhno is serving as captain of the Majorettes, and Geri Kaczynski as captain of the Cheerleaders. Rose Kikoskicki and Bev Lynch added to the Maiorette squad. Claire Fresco is the editor of the I-IORNET, while Primula Murphy is the president of the newly organized Honor Society. Little Barry and Big Bill Babcock are presidents of our class and Student Council respectively. Dave Barker has just presented his tennis trophy to the school. Janet Ledbury and Primula Murphy are the presidents of the first B.H.S. Horizon Club with Miss Moessmang as advisor. November-Thanksgiving Day, 1955-The only tri-captains in the state of Connecticut are Bill Babcock, Phil Babin and Dom Drago who are lead- ing us on to an outstandingly successful football season under Coach Cote. We wish next years Senior class the best of luck in beating East Haven. October, 1955-Place: Gym-Reason: Hobo Hop -The Sophisticates have just shown their extraordinary talents in their version of The Song of the Sewer. Is that talent? F' 5 VW' 1
